Why are there still crafting skill points?

As I understand it now, there is a separate crafting skill for each expansion. You get it at the start and that's all you need to learn the recipes of that expansion. OK, fine. So why does skill still go to 100 for each skill in each expansion?

I don't think the second statement is true.  I just checked my engineer in the beta, and many of the recipes have a BfA skill requirement.  110 for the new personal goggles, 100 for the weapons, 35 for scopes, 50 for the Monelite Fish Finder, etc..

Also it's not always a 100-point scale.  Classic goes to 300, some the older expansions go to 75, and BfA goes to 150.

Whacky, but OK. So if they're still going with skill-level-gated recipes I can see it still being relevant.
