Battle.net desktop app features
« on: October 05, 2017, 02:13:12 PM »
Blizzard has added a group chat feature to the desktop app, along with an "appear offline" feature (which was promised long, long ago).  For now these are in beta testing; to enable the features, click on the Blizzard icon in the upper left, click Settings, click on the Beta tab in the left pane, then click "Switch to Beta".  The groups feature is accessed via the new Social tab at the top.

These features went live today (for me, at least).  I did some simple tests; it seems like a functional group chat system, if a bit basic compared to Slack or Discord.  The killer feature would be integration with that chat windows in Blizzard games, but that doesn't seem to be present, even in Overwatch (which released a patch today "adding some background tech to support battle.net features").
