In the Legion thread, I wrote:
Patch 7.1 is going to remove the ability for UI mods to access unit locations inside instances.
The UI and macros forum now has a post up about the precise changes. It says:
Several unit positioning/facing/range APIs have been restricted so that they will only return valid values when the following criteria are met:
• Unit is the active player or in the party
• Unit is not in any kind of instance PvE or PvP.
It seems like DBM will work around this restriction by transmitting location information to other instances of the addon within the raid. That's a lot of wasted bandwidth, but I think there's plenty of precedent for that sort of things in addons.
Also in that post:
In patch 7.1, addons have been restricted from acting on nameplate. Addons can still gather information, target, and customize nameplates, but can no longer use their unit tokens for spell casts. This is similar to how nameplates worked in Warlords of Draenor.
I'm not certain what this means for players. It might mean that, say, Enemy Grid can't let you interrupt a spell by clicking on one of its frames.http://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20749494846
