Thok the Bloodthirsty

CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP

Order we fed captives to Thok:
- Poison (Saurok)
- Frost (Jinyu)
- Fire (Yaungol)

Used (chained) devotion aura and healing CDs to stretch out P1 before he went into blood frenzy the first time, and to stretch out the frost phase. Dispels are huge in Poison phase and following P2. If possible, have spriest or moonkin with symbiosis on a priest assist with mass dispel.

Had priests spec into feathers and drop feathers along the path we designated for kiting during blood frenzy.

Main thing is not kiting Thok through the raid during blood frenzy (although it is hilarious to do so). We find it's best to plan where everyone should be, and then alternate between running him down the hallway and running him to the back of the room. He can fixate on the same person 2-3 times in a row. 2 times isn't necessarily a death sentence, but 3 times you're pretty much dino food.

The most difficult transition we had was going from the frost phase into the blood frenzy phase just following. we had everyone back up a little into the little alcove where we got the Jinyu prisoner from until he would fixate, and then that person would peel off to run down the hallway. Only then would the rest of the raid run off to DPS the jailer and stack near the Yaungol prisoners/Fire phase guys.

If you have a lot of sprints in your raid and a decent amount of ranged dps, you can stretch P2 out quite a bit if you want to get some solid dps time on the boss. The goal is to get him as low as possible before you're forced into fire phase, because fire phase and following blood frenzy completely sucks.

More on interrupt protection...

We start chaining interrupt protections at ~8 stacks of the interrupt.

Interrupt protection list:
- devotion aura (any paladin)
- power word: barrier (disc priest)
- hand of protection will give interrupt protection to who it's cast on (probably a druid/holy priest to tranq/hymn)
- divine shield and inner focus give self interrupt protection to holy paladins and disc priests

This past week, we did a full devo-devo-devo-barrier-barrier-bop tranq CD rotation and took him to like 25+ stacks in first P1. Chaining CDs like this is huge for a melee heavy group, since it's difficult to safely DPS Thok as melee in P2.

A tweet from Ion Hazzikostas clarifies (kind of) how Thok picks his fixate targets:
Quote
Sort of. Random among the farthest people (but not counting people who are VERY far away).
So, to avoid double fixates, the kiter wants to avoid being too far away (but without getting eaten, which requires a bit of finesse), and the raid can't all be close by.

ETA: more specific tweets here and here:
Quote
Thok will target one of the 3 farthest non-tank players within 150 yards. Do not be one of those if you don't want to kite
Quote
Random among 6 farthest non-tanks within 150yd on 25.
